Questions To Ponder Before Joining a Network Marketing Company

Each day thousands of people inquire about joining one of the hundreds of network marketing companies.

I believe there are several questions to ponder while deciding if network marketing is the right choice for you:

1. Do you like people? Network marketing is a people business. If you are not a people person, you may find network marketing to be very challenging. You’ll be talking to complete strangers. You’ll need to work with those in each of the different personality types. I believe being a people person also entails being able to start and maintain conversations with strangers.

2. Do you understand how money is made in network marketing? We’ve all seen the ads claiming you can earn millions all while you sleep. The reality is this just is not true. Sure, people will place orders at 3 a.m. and you might be sleeping, however they are only going to be on your website if you’ve marketed your business and engaged in activities to bring traffic to your website. Have you looked at what it really will take to earn $100 or even $1000?


3. Do you have time to invest into this business? As a network marketing consultant, there will be phone time, email time, marketing time etc. Are you able to consistently put time into the business? If you don’t have the time, are you able to create the time?

4. If you were not selling the products, would you still use them? I really believe this is huge. At one time I had an account with a company that in my opinion sells some of the best supplements on the market. I’ve not had an account with them for 2 years now but I still use their products every single day. Are you being swayed by financial claims? I believe for success you need to base your decision on the products not the financial claims.


5. Do you have a plan of action? Joining a network marketing company is signing your name and buying a starter kit. Then what? In order to build a business, you’ll need customers and team members. Do you have a plan of action to accomplish this?

These 5 questions should help you in deciding if a network marketing business is the right fit for you.
