I don't know if any of you are over here in Italy but I have been here 18 months.My husband is from here and we brought our children here whilst we renovate our very very old house(ever seen the film The Money Pit?LOL) and to give our boys an experience of another life culture.
I am from Manchester,UK .

Hi and welcome to the forum. Are you renovating your home in the UK or in Italy? I wasn't sure if you were doing the renovating in the UK and that you were planning on living in Italy while this was taking place. Yes, I have seen the movie "The Money Pit". What an experience that must be for you!

Hi Jo,we are renovating our house in Italy.We decided to bite the bullet and sell up in the UK in order to help fund this.We have been here 18 months now and its a long process.So much red tape
We don't know if we will stay here long term,but it is a fantastic experience for the kids,they are now bi-lingual and I feel they have benefited from this.
If we do go back to UK it would mean starting over,but I so miss an english speaking community.
You can intergrate if you try(and I am!)but you never feel truly 'in there'.
Sense of humour,outlooks,cultural attitudes etc are more different than I first realised.
But I am having fun with mu businesses and have more time to devote after I have finished bricklaying lol
